Liverpool may reportedly have to include Divock Origi in any proposal for Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak.
Jurgen Klopp is currently contemplating whether to sign a new centre-back in January after long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
A report over the weekend suggested that AC Milan were ahead of the Premier League champions in the race to sign Turkey international Kabak.
However, The Telegraph claims that Schalke may give Liverpool an edge in negotiations by requesting out-of-favour forward Origi in part-exchange.
With the Belgium international having rarely featured in the top flight this season, it has been claimed that Liverpool could be prepared to part ways with the versatile attacker.
Origi represented Wolfsburg during the 2017-18 campaign with six goals coming from 31 outings in the Bundesliga.
