Liverpool could make up to £21m from former player Luis Alberto's sale this summer should Lazio cash in, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly set for a multi-million-pound cash injection as part of an agreement with Lazio for their former player Luis Alberto.

The Spanish winger failed to settle at Anfield following his move from Sevilla in 2013, making just nine Premier League appearances in three years at the club.

Alberto was sold to Lazio for around £3.6m in 2016 and has fared a lot better in Serie A, scoring four goals and setting up 12 more for the surprise Scudetto challengers this term.

Lazio may be forced to cash in on the 27-year-old if he decides against signing a new deal this summer, with his valuation believed to be in the region of £69m.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards asked for a 30% sell-on clause to be included in Alberto's Lazio contract, meaning that the Premier League champions-elect are in line for a cash windfall.

If the Biancocelesti receive the full amount they are supposedly after for one of their star men, that would mean a £21m bonus for Liverpool.
