Leicester City too strong for MK Dons

Leicester City score a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 win over MK Dons is their pre-season friendly.

David Martin was tested just five minutes into the tie when Riyad Mahrez played the ball in for Jeff Schlupp, but his low drive was stopped by the Dons keeper.

Leicester continued to create the more chances of the two sides, and managed to break the deadlock in the 24th minute when David Nugent struck the ball from 30 yards out, wrong-footing Martin to score his fourth pre-season goal.

Chris Wood and Mahrez both have efforts saved shortly before the half-hour mark, while Dean Lewington tested Ben Hamer at the other end with a deflected effort.

Nugent came close to adding his second shortly after the start of the second half, but his header from a Mahrez corner went just over.

James Pearson made it two for the Foxes with just over 20 minutes still to play with another strike from 30 yards out, picking out the top corner of the net.

A triallist for the home side came close to getting a goal back for the League One side, but his 25-yard effort flew high, allowing the Premier League side to see out the win.
