Hamburger SV fall to late defeat to remain winless in Bundesliga

Hamburger SV remain at the bottom of the Bundesliga table following a late defeat against Eintracht Franfurt at the Imtech Arena this evening.

Hamburger SV remain rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table and winless so far this season following a late 2-1 defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Chances were few and far between in the first half, but Haris Seferovic managed to edge the visitors ahead one minute before the interval when he tucked away a cross into the box.

Lewis Holtby picked out Valon Behrami seconds later, and the midfielder almost levelled the game, only to see his headed attempt end inches wide of the target.

Holtby was involved again eight minutes after the restart, firing a shot narrowly wide after being picked out inside the penalty area.

Die Rothosen did find a way through just short of the hour-mark, though, with Holtby picking out Nicolai Muller, who made no mistake with his strike to level it up.

The match looked to be heading towards a draw, until Lucas Piazon found the back of the net from a long-range free kick to secure all three points for Thomas Schaaf's charges at the death.

The victory for Frankfurt at the Imtech Arena lifts them up to seventh place in the league table, while Hamburg are now three points adrift of safety.
