Bakary Sako strike downs Fulham

Fulham's Championship struggles go on with a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.

Fulham's miserable start to the season continued with a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Wednesday evening.

The Cottagers' struggle to adapt to the second tier goes on and it was Bakary Sako who gave the visitors the lead after 14 minutes.

The powerful frontman made the most of a dummy to rifle the ball home early on to give Kenny Jackett's side a great start against the Londoners.

The lively Sako was causing problems throughout, and his inviting cross was nearly finished off by Danny Batth seven minutes before the break.

After the break, Moussa Dembele forced Carl Ikeme into a good stop, while Ross McCormack sent an effort over the bar on the hour mark.

Batth against went close with a header on 77 minutes but he was unable to hit the target, and perhaps should have done better.

With the game in stoppage time, Cameron Burgess bundled Nouha Dicko over to give Sako the chance to double his tally, but he could only see his penalty saved by Fulham keeper Jesse Joronen.

The result leaves the Cottagers one place from the bottom of the Championship table with zero points, while Wolves move up to ninth.
