Evian Thonon Gaillard hammer Sochaux

Evian Thonon Gaillard put five past Sochaux to bag maximum points at home in their Ligue 1 fixture on Saturday.

Evian Thonon Gaillard have picked up all three points from their home match against Sochaux in Ligue 1 with a comprehensive 5-1 victory.

The visitors had the first chance of the game after 10 minutes when Giovanni Sio shot wide from outside the box.

Four minutes later Evian's Saber Khelifa saw his effort from distance saved and his teammate Kevin Berigaud met with the same fate on 19 minutes.

Evian also had chances to break the deadlock through Berigaud and Milos Ninkovic, but it was Cedric Barbosa who gave the home the lead on 44 minutes with a direct free kick.

Berigaud could have doubled his side's advantage three minutes into the second half had Simon Pouplin not been alert to his header between the Sochaux posts.

Then on 53 minutes the visitors restored parity, Sio releasing Cedric Bakambu to shoot home from close range.

However, Evian regained their one-goal advantage in the 64th minute from the penalty spot. David Sauget brought down Khelifa, who himself stepped up to slot home from 12 yards.

The match effectively ended as a contest seven minutes later when Betao released Kevin Berigaud with a through-ball to place home from close range.

Barbosa grabbed his second and Evian's fourth goal at Parc des Sports in the 74th minute, and five minutes later Khelifa put the finishing touches to Olivier Sorlin's through-ball to complete his brace.
