SC Paderborn come from behind to deny Borussia Dortmund victory

Borussia Dortmund throw away a two-goal lead as SC Paderborn secure a 2-2 draw in dramatic circumstances.

Borussia Dortmund failed to take advantage of a two-goal advantage as SC Paderborn produced a stunning second-half fightback to secure a 2-2 draw this afternoon.

The lead belonged to Dortmund in the 13th minute when Erik Durm collected the ball in space on the left wing, before crossing for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who tapped in from close range.

Dortmund would dominate for long periods of the first half, and Aubameyang should have had his second of the afternoon when he dragged an effort wide after beating the offside trap.

Roman Weidenfeller was rarely threatened in the visiting goal, despite Paderborn enjoying a spell on top in the latter stages of the first half.

However, the hosts were unable to prevent Dortmund from extending their advantage in added time as Marco Reus broke free to latch onto an Aubameyang pass, before calmly slotting home.

Dortmund appeared to be in complete control early in the second half, but Paderborn were back in the game on the hour mark when Lukas Rupp displayed quick feet to get past Matthias Ginter before firing past a helpless Weidenfeller.

There was more bad news for Dortmund later in the game when Reus was stretchered off the pitch with an injury after being caught on the ankle by Marvin Bakalorz.

However, further misery would be piled on with eight minutes remaining as former Dortmund striker Mahir Saglik found space inside the box to head home from a corner and secure a point for Paderborn.
