Augsburg stay 16th after Bayern Munich defeat

Augsburg are beaten by Bayern Munich and remain in the relegation playoff spot in the Bundesliga.

Augsburg were unable to move out of the Bundesliga relegation playoff place after going down 3-0 to Bayern Munich.

The hosts, as expected, started strongly, with Thomas Muller testing Tom Starke early on as they won a series of early corners.

Tobias Werner twice tested Manuel Neuer from distance as both sides were having chances in the opening 20 minutes.

Bayern started to take control but were unable to create the chance needed to score and the sides went in level at the break.

Munich threw everything at the cause and they were finally rewarded with just over 20 minutes to play as Dante found Muller, who finished powerfully.

Then inside the final 10 minutes the points were wrapped up as Xherdan Shaqiri placed the ball into the bottom corner.

There was still time for a final goal as Luiz Gustavo scored with four minutes to play.
