Almeria earn narrow win over Getafe

Almeria climb out of the La Liga relegation zone with a 1-0 win at home to Getafe.

Struggling Almeria have earned an important 1-0 win at home to Getafe in La Liga.

The victory has seen Francisco Rodriguez's side climb out of the relegation zone and move up to 15th place in the table.

An uneventful first half came alive in the final minutes as Getafe's Rafael Gomez saw his header crash against the crossbar following a corner.

However, it was the hosts who made the breakthrough four minutes after the break when Jonathan Zongo rose highest inside the penalty area to head home.

Almeria had a glorious chance to double their advantage in the final stages, but Aleix Vidal saw his effort saved by Miguel Moya from close range.
