Team GB's Rebecca Gallantree and Hannah Starling have edged through to the semi-finals of the women's 3m springboard at London 2012.

Both divers showed consistency throughout, but were forced to raise their games in the final round to secure passage to the last 18.

Gallantree pulled off a well-executed back 2 1/2 somersault in round five to boost her total points haul to 299.25 and take 16th place in the preliminaries.

Starling, the youngest competitor at 17, impressed the judges with a forward 2 1/2 somersault 1 1/2 twist to increase her score to 298.95 and take 17th.

China were as dominant as ever, taking first and second place through and Wu Minxia and Zi He respectively. The former racked up 387.95 points, with her compatriot bagging 363.85.

The women's 3m springboard semi-final takes place at the Aquatics Centre at 2.30pm tomorrow.
