Williams battles past Zheng

Serena Williams has battled past Zheng Jie in a titanic battle at Wimbledon, winning the match 6-7 6-2 9-7.

The first set was extremely tight, with both players holding serve and forcing it to a tie-break. It was Zheng who eventually claimed the set, winning the tie-break 7-5.

The second set was dominated by Williams, with Zheng losing her serve twice as the American won the set 6-2.

The third set started far more evenly, with neither player able to break serve at first. However, Williams broke to make it 8-7 before claiming the next set to make it 9-7 and win the match.

Williams will now head into the fourth round of Wimbledon 2012.
