Stanislas Wawrinka outclasses Victor Estrella Burgos to reach third round

Stanislas Wawrinka proves too good for Victor Estrella Burgos in his second-round Wimbledon match with a 6-3 6-4 7-5 win.

Stanislas Wawrinka has eased into the third round at Wimbledon with a straight-sets win over Victor Estrella Burgos this evening.

The world number four rarely looked in danger of being a high-profile casualty, with a 6-3 6-4 7-5 win in just over 90 minutes to eliminate the Dominican.

Estrella Burgos, ranked 48th in the world, gave as good as he got in the opening six games as the duo sat deadlocked on three games apiece.

However, the Swiss held his serve before breaking the underdog to move 5-3 ahead and it was enough of an advantage to earn a first-set lead.

The second set followed a similar pattern as both players held serve to sit 4-4, but another break from Wawrinka helped him move two up in sets.

With Estrella Burgos 5-4 ahead in the third, the veteran looked like grabbing himself a consolation set and perhaps laying the foundations of a comeback, but the French Open champion won three successive games to advance.
