Gilles Simon has eased his way into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Tomas Berdych this evening.

Simon took full control of the match in the second set as he continued to have success with his groundstrokes against the Czech, and he earned seven break points and took one of them to clinch a 6-3 win.

The 30-year-old maintained his composure in the third as he continued to put pressure on Berdych, and the Czech's serve once again buckled to hand the Frenchman two breaks, which helped him secure a 6-2 win to book his place in the quarter-finals.

Simon will face Roger Federer in the last eight of the competition.
