Fourth seed Maria Sharapova is through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals with a straight-sets win over Zarina Diyas.

Maria Sharapova has recorded a straight-sets triumph over Zarina Diyas to book her place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

The fourth seed, who is bidding to win her second SW19 title, came through by a 6-4 6-4 scoreline.

Sharapova, who hasn't dropped a set throughout the tournament, quickly established a lead in the opener, and although Diyas secured a break of her own, it wasn't enough to prevent the Russian from moving ahead.

Two more breaks of serve for Sharapova proved decisive in the second as he secured victory over the world number 34 in 97 minutes.

Sharapova will now play Coco Vandeweghe, who upset sixth seed Lucie Safarova earlier on Monday.
