Lukas Rosol shocks Rafael Nadal

World number 100 Lukas Rosol produces an inspired performance to defeat two-time Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal in five sets on Centre Court.

Second seed Rafael Nadal has crashed out of Wimbledon at the hands of world number 100 Lukas Rosol.

The 26-year-old Czech produced a performance of the highest standard and was fully deserving of the 6-7[9] 6-4 6-4 2-6 6-4 victory.

After Nadal had taken the opening set in a gruelling back-and-forth tie-break, Rosol produced two sets of sustained baseline hitting to turn the match on its head.

The Spaniard levelled the match in flawless style by taking the fourth set without committing one unforced error.

A 30-minute delay then followed as the roof on Centre Court was closed. Rosol adapted better to the indoor conditions and, after breaking Nadal early, he held to love to secure the famous victory.

Rosol, who had previously won only 18 matches on the professional tour, will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in round three.
