Petra Kvitova continues the defence of her Wimbledon title by defeating Varvara Lepchenko 6-1 6-0.

Defending champion Petra Kvitova secured her progression through to the second week of Wimbledon thanks to a 6-1 6-0 win over America's Varvara Lepchenko this afternoon.

Lepchenko has been in good form on grass so far this year, with many tipping her to give the current world number four a tough match on Court Number One.

However, Kvitova eased to an opening set success by winning the first five games of the match. Lepchenko then held her serve to get a score on the board, before Kvitova served out to go one set up.

The second set mirrored the first, with Kvitova winning five games in succession.

On this occasion, though, Lepchenko was unable to win a single game as Kvitova served out to book her place in round four having spent just 52 minutes on court.
