Marin Cilic eases through Wimbledon opener

Ninth seed Marin Cilic eases past Brian Baker to reach the second round of Wimbledon.

Marin Cilic has fired down 18 aces on the way to a straight-sets win over Brian Baker in the Wimbledon first round.

The ninth seed has reached the last eight at SW19 on his last two appearances and he looked in confident mood as he swept aside his American opponent 6-3 7-5 6-3.

The scoreline suggests that Baker had limited success against the former US Open champion but Cilic never dropped serve through the match, as well as taking four of his eight chances on the Baker serve.

The Croatian also dropped just six points behind his first serve as he coasted through to a second-round meeting with Sergiy Stakhovsky.
