Serena Williams "greedy" for more Grand Slam titles

Serena Williams admits that she is "greedy" for more Grand Slam titles after equalling Steffi Graf's Open Era record with victory over Angelique Kerber.

Serena Williams has vowed to win more Grand Slam titles following her record-equalling victory over Angelique Kerber at Wimbledon on Saturday.

The American drew level with Steffi Graf's tally of 22 Grand Slam titles - the most in the Open Era - courtesy of her seventh triumph at SW19, and she now sits just two short of Margaret Court's all-time mark of 24.

At 34 years old, Williams is the oldest woman to win a Grand Slam in the Open Era, but she insists that she has no plans to retire anytime soon.

"I feel like when you're great you are greedy because you want to keep going back to the table. You want to eat more and eat more and eat more. You don't ever get enough. Even in putting your career first you have to be really selfish and greedy, it is what it is, I come first and that's what needs to be done in order for me to be the best," she told reporters.

"I really don't know how long I will play, at this point I don't really look too much in the future. I'm really living for the moment right now, trying to take this up and enjoy it and embrace it. Then I'll go on to the next title and then I'll see how I feel.

"Players used to retire not just in their early 30s, in their late 20s, but now technology has done a lot.Even from the shoes helping out your knees, being out to stay their longer and learning what to do not to get injured. There's not so many severe injuries as there used to be because of knowledge and that will definitely help out my career."

Williams had lost back-to-back Grand Slam finals before her triumph at Wimbledon.
