Tearful Murray thanks fans after final defeat

A tearful Andy Murray has thanked his fans following his defeat to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon men's final on Sunday afternoon.

The 25-year-old, who was the first Brit to reach the final in 76 years, went down in four sets on Centre Court as Federer claimed a record-equalling seventh title at the All England Club.

"Everybody always talks about the pressure of playing at Wimbledon, but it's not the people watching - they make it incredible," said Murray.

"There are mixed emotions. Most of them are negative. The reaction from the crowd was great. I felt like I was playing for the nation and I couldn't quite do it."

The defeat was Murray's fourth in a Grand Slam final, with three of those coming at the hands of the Swiss.
