Sharapova: 'Lisicki was better'

Maria Sharapova has admitted that she lost to the better player after being sent packing from Wimbledon by Sabine Lisicki.

The world number one lost in straight sets to the German, who expressed her delight at her victory.

"She did many things better than I did and you have to hand it to her," Sharapova told BBC Sport. "She played very well.

"I could have done things differently but not on this particular day."

It was the first time that Lisicki beat Sharapova at her fourth opportunity.
