Monfils withdraws from Wimbledon

Former world number seven Gael Monfils has pulled out of this year's Wimbledon Championships due to personal reasons.

The 26-year-old Frenchman confirmed his withdrawal after a third-round victory over qualifier Jan Hernych at the Gerry Weber Open in Germany.

Monfils, who recently reached the third round of the French Open, missed a large part of last season with a knee injury.

He was crowned boys' singles champion at SW19 in 2004 but has failed to get past the third round of the senior tournament.
