Lisicki beats Bartoli to semi-finals

Sabine Lisicki is through to the semi-finals after beating Marion Bartoli.

Sabine Lisicki has won her place in the Wimbledon semi-finals after beating Marion Bartoli on Centre Court.

Neither player dominated in the first set as the advantage fluctuated throughout, but the unseeded German came out on top with 6-4. After an early lead from former finalist Bartoli, Lisicki fought her way back and took the set to a tie break, which Bartoli safely won 7-4.

The German resumed her lead in the third set, taking the first three games before Bartoli could enter the scoreboard, holding her serve after a ten minute game. That was the last game she would win as Lisicki stole the match 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-1.

Lisicki had won two of her three previous meetings with the Frenchwoman, although Bartoli had triumphed during their Wimbledon clash in 2007.

The world 62 will go on to face either Dominika Cibulkova or Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals.
