Federer plays down recent success against Murray

Roger Federer has played down the emphatic nature of his victory over Andy Murray in their last meeting ahead of their semi-final clash at Wimbledon.

The duo last met in the ATP World Finals at the O2 Arena last year and the Swiss hammered the 28-year-old in straight sets 6-0 6-1 in their Group B clash.

However, Federer has insisted that the match will have little bearing on their encounter on Centre Court later today.

He told reporters: "I thought World Tour Finals, he came in tired. He had won three tournaments back to back to back. He left everything out there, making the World Tour Finals.

"I think when I played him, he was a bit cooked, to be honest. I played a great match, but it was not the Andy that usually comes up and shows up."

Federer holds a 12-11 advantage over Murray in their 23 meetings.
