Marion Bartoli confirms that she is not planning to come out of retirement after it was announced that she would be taking part in a Wimbledon warm-up event.

Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli has confirmed that she is not planning a comeback after it was announced that she would be taking part in a warm-up event ahead of this year's tournament.

The Frenchwoman, who retired from the sport following her triumph at SW19 last year, will play the Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament in June.

Bartoli's scheduled participation in the event had fuelled rumours that she was returning to the court on a permanent basis, but the 29-year-old has dismissed those suggestions.

"It's not going to happen," she is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "Tennis is still my passion, but I have other passions and they take a lot of work and dedication. I'm going to be 30 years old later this year and my body is extremely tired."

Bartoli beat Sabine Lisicki 6-1 6-4 in last year's Wimbledon final to claim the only Grand Slam title of her career.
