Maria Sharapova to change her name for US Open?

World number three Maria Sharapova reportedly asks the Supreme Court of Florida to allow her to change her name to Maria Sugarpova for the duration of the US Open.

Four-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova has reportedly asked the Supreme Court of Florida to allow her to change her name on a short-term basis.

It is understood that the world number three is planning the name change in an attempt to raise brand awareness for the sweet company that she set up last year.

According to The Times, Sharapova wants to be officially known as Maria Sugarpova for the duration of the US Open, which gets underway on Monday.

The paper also claims that the Russian, 26, will display the Sugarpova symbol, a pair of red lips, on her clothing during the tournament at Flushing Meadows.
