John McEnroe believes that the US Open provides Andy Murray with his best chance of winning a major.
The seven-time grand slam winner thinks that the Scot has what it takes to win the tournament, having lost the final to Roger Federer in 2008.
"The hungriest man in the draw should be Murray," said McEnroe.
"I think this is his best shot to win one. He's been in three finals and this could be his tournament.
"He is the X-factor. I think this is his best chance to win a major."
The world number four goes into the final major of the season having won the Cincinnati Open last week.
Murray will face India's Somdev Devvarman in the first round of the Flushing Meadows tournament, which begins on Monday.
