Monfils sets up Nadal final in Doha

Gael Monfils has beaten Florian Mayer 6-3 6-2 in the semi-finals of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha.

The Frenchman took just 55 minutes to oust the German and set up a final meeting with world number one Rafael Nadal.

Monfils took only two of the eight break points he created in the first set, and although he was broken once himself he looked to be in complete control of the contest.

The second set was one-way traffic as he broke twice more to seal his place in tomorrow's finale.
