Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has defeated James Blake 7-6 6–4 to advance to the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
The Frenchman took the first set on a tiebreak, eventually winning the last five points after trailing 6-3 to the American.
The World No. 8 then took the second, 6-4 in a back and forth set, to wrap up the match in one hour and 42 minutes against the wildcard Blake.
Tsonga joins Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic in the third round, after the pair booked their place by beating Evgeny Donskoy and Fabio Fognini respectively.
