Raonic eases past Becker to advance

Number eight seed Milos Raonic has cruised past Benjamin Becker to secure his place in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

The 24-year-old edged a tight first set as both players produced quality tennis, but the Canadian earned the one crucial break to take the set 6-4 in 30 minutes.

Raonic continued his fine strokeplay in the second set as he powered 14 winners in the second set to help him break the German twice to claim a 6-3 win, despite making seven unforced errors.

Becker tried to fight back in the third set as he managed to stave off the onslaught of Raonic, but the number eight seed finally got the crucial break in the 33-year-old's third service game.

The Canadian earned a final break as Becker committed a double fault to hand Raonic the third set 6-3 to clinch his place in the last 16 of the competition, for the third time in his career.

Raonic will play the winner of the match between Feliciano Lopez and Jerzy Janowicz in the next stage of the tournament.
