Former world number one Andy Murray suffers one of the heaviest defeats of his career as Roberto Bautista Agut wins 6-0 6-1 in Qatar.

Andy Murray has been dumped out of the Qatar Open courtesy of a heavy straight-sets defeat to Roberto Bautista-Agut.

The Spaniard needed just over an hour to see off the former world number one and two-time Qatar champion, running out a convincing 6-0 6-1 winner.

The opening game of the match was about as good as it got for Murray as he took Bautista Agut to deuce - accounting for three of the eight points he was able to win throughout the set.

Just three of those points came on his own serve too, with Bautista Agut winning to love in Murray's opening service game and going on to take all three of his break points - the last of which wrapped up the set in just 26 minutes.

The Brit did get on the board in his opening service game of the second set to briefly level it at 1-1, but that was the only one of the 13 games he was able to win.

Bautista Agut reeled off the next five games in a row to seal the victory, with his only minor scare coming when he faced break point in the fifth game.

Murray will now be left to pick through the bones of one of the most one-sided defeats of his career, whereas number two seed Bautista Agut will face either Dan Evans or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals.
