Great Britain's James Clegg sets a British record of 25.52s in the men's S12 50m freestyle heat.

Great Britain's Paralympic swimmer James Clegg has set a new regional record in the men's S12 50m freestyle heat.

Clegg finished third in a time of 25.52s but there was a doubt over his place in the final after he touched the end of the pool in the exact same time as Russia's Roman Makarov.

There was a possibility of a swim-off but the third heat at the Aquatics Centre meant that the Brit avoided the decider and just edged into a place in the final.

Maksym Veraksa of Ukraine managed to record the quickest time of 23.80s as he won the third heat.
