Tony Smith thrilled by Warrington Wolves triumph

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith heaps praise on his team following their narrow win over Catalans Dragons in the Super League.

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith has hailed the spirit of his players following their win over Catalans Dragons in the Super League.

The Wolves ended their two-match losing streak on Friday night with a narrow 26-24 triumph in Perpignan.

"I'm delighted because we had to earn every last little bit of that tonight and we needed it too," Smith told Sky Sports News.

"It was a great game. Tough conditions - we had some major downpours before kickoff and it made a difference to both teams.

"Both teams like to throw it around but couldn't really do it tonight, but I thought both teams played tactically well when you take the conditions into account."

Warrington return to action next Saturday when they face Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup semi-finals at Langtree Park.
