Five-try Wakefield beat lowly Halifax

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats ran out 30-12 winners against Halifax in the Super League Super 8s qualifying.

Michael Sio put his Wakefield side in front early on but Halifax replied quickly, with Jake Ecclestone finishing well for the try.

Sio added his second try 10 minutes before the break and Mickael Simon added a third for Wakefield just before half time.

Wakefield were given a penalty early in the second half, with Joe Arundel converting before Anthony Mullally added a fourth score with 15 minutes remaining.

Scott Murrell scored a consolation try for Halifax but Wakefield made their win even more emphatic at the end, with Max Jowitt scoring on his home debut.

The win sees Wakefield create some distance between themselves and the Bradford Bulls in fifth place while Halifax remain with just one win so far in the Super League Super 8s qualifying.
