Wakefield Trinity Wildcats appoint Chris Chester

Chris Chester has been named the new head coach of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The 37-year-old has replaced Brian Smith, who resigned from the position earlier this month.

"I am delighted to become head coach of Wakefield Wildcats, especially as it is my hometown club and a club with a lot of traditions," he told the club's official website.

"I have been stood on these terraces as a young kid and I am really proud that I now get to coach this great team."

The Wildcats also announced that John Kear will take on the role as head of rugby from the start of the 2017 season.
