Double injury blow for Hull KR

Hull Kingston Rovers will be without backs Ben Cockayne and David Hodgson for the remainder of the Super League season.

Cockayne is to undergo surgery on his ankle following a collision with teammate Kevin Larroyer, while Hodgson will also go under the knife to repair a bulging disc in his neck, which may spell the end of his career.

"We lost Ben last week and he is gone for the season," head coach Chris Chester told the Hull Daily Mail. "He tore a ligament in his ankle which will probably need an operation.

"Dave went for an operation on his neck on Monday. That's him done for the season and it's doubtful if he'll play again. It was quite a nasty injury to his neck and retirement could come a year sooner than he would have liked. But it's his decision. He knows his own body and we'll respect his decision."

Hull KR, who are currently ninth in the Super League table, face local rivals Hull FC on Friday night.
