Chris Chester: 'Hull Kingston Rovers must remain calm'

Chris Chester admits that reaching the final four of the Challenge Cup is one of the targets Hull Kingston Rovers set out to achieve this season.

Hull Kingston Rovers head coach Chris Chester has called on his players to believe in themselves ahead of this evening's Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Catalans Dragons.

The Robins are currently four points behind their opponents in the Super League table, but a place in the final four of the domestic cup beckons if they can produce a repeat performance from last time out against Wigan Warriors.

Chester wants his group to share the elation that he felt 10 years ago when lifting the trophy at the Millennium Stadium during his days as a Hull FC player.

"It was a very special time in my career," he is quoted as saying by the Hull Daily Mail when asked about his success a decade ago. "I had some really good times there and that was a year that everyone had written us off.

"We played a Super League side in every round, and even in the final, nobody gave us a chance. But we had that belief, in a really special time and there are some memories that I'll treasure forever. We at Rovers speak about it, how special the Challenge Cup is and spoke at length in pre-season about what we wanted to achieve.

"One of the goals was to reach a semi-final. We're one game away from that. We've got as good a chance as anybody. But my job is to keep these guys as relaxed as possible and not play the game now in their heads."

Hull KR last reached the semi-final stage of the Challenge Cup back in 2006.
