Adam Johnson's girlfriend 'standing by' Sunderland star amid child sex allegations

The family of Adam Johnson's girlfriend have reportedly claimed that she is 'standing by' the Sunderland winger following child sex allegations.

On Monday, the 27-year-old footballer was arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl of 15.

Johnson's girlfriend Stacey Flounders, who gave birth to the couple's daughter seven weeks ago, is said to be rallying behind her partner.

Stacey's mother told The Mirror: "Stacey and Adam are still very close and absolutely still together. He is 100% innocent and we will stand by him. He hasn't been found guilty of anything."

Johnson, who authorities claimed was helping Durham police with their inquiries, was released on bail yesterday.
