Perez hints at 2026 return with Cadillac F1 team

Sergio Perez says he hasn't ruled out a return to Formula 1 — if the right opportunity comes along.

After being dropped at the end of last season for falling short against dominant Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, many believed the 35-year-old Mexican's F1 career had ended.

Even with strong commercial support, Perez looked set to exit the grid.

But perceptions are shifting, with both Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda — his short-term successors — facing their own difficulties.

Now, Perez is being linked with Cadillac's incoming Formula 1 team, set to join the grid in 2026.

"I'm not sure what will happen," he said during a public appearance at the Festival de las Ideas in Puebla, Mexico, on Saturday.

"I am aware that I did not end my career as I would have liked and as we deserve. If I return, it will be with an important project that motivates us. If I find it, I will return."

And his message to the audience?

"Never give up, that would be the main message," said Perez — echoing the slogan he famously wore on the back of his helmet during his Red Bull days.
