British cameraman Paul Allen is being kept under observation at the Koblenz Hospital after being struck by a loose wheel during the German Grand Prix.

A cameraman who was struck by a loose wheel in the pit lane at this afternoon's German Grand Prix has been taken to hospital.

Paul Allen was knocked over when Mark Webber's Red Bull was released from its pit box with one of the tyres not properly fitted.

A statement from the FIA said: "During the German GP, [a Formula One Management] cameraman in pit lane was struck by a loose wheel. Paul Allen was hit on the left hand side.

"Remaining conscious, he was treated at the circuit medical centre and then transported by helicopter to Koblenz Hospital. The Briton has been kept there, under observation."

The race was won by Webber's teammate Sebastian Vettel.
