Nico Rosberg keeps pressure on Lewis Hamilton with victory in Brazil

Nico Rosberg keeps the pressure on Mercedes teammate and championship leader Lewis Hamilton ahead of the last race of the season by winning the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Nico Rosberg pipped Lewis Hamilton to victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix to move within 17 points of his Mercedes teammate at the top of the drivers' championship.

Rosberg beat the championship leader by one second to make the trip to Abu Dhabi - where double points are on offer - an intriguing contest ahead of the final race in two weeks time.

Williams driver Felipe Massa, who earlier incurred a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane, finished third.

Rosberg, who won pole position in qualifying, held his advantage for the first eight laps until Nico Hulkenberg replaced him at the front.

The German re-established his lead five laps later, while Hamilton, in second, set the fastest time of the race on lap 20 to move 2.1 seconds behind Rosberg.

The podium places were all but assured by lap 43, as third-placed Massa sat 15.8 seconds behind Hamilton but a solid six seconds clear of Jenson Button in fourth.

Hamilton continued to threaten and moved 0.6 seconds behind his teammate by the 60th lap, with Massa 31.7 seconds behind the Mercedes duo.

That gap remained up until the 70th lap, before Hamilton tried and failed to make a pass before losing by an even second in the end.
