Sheffield Wednesday salvage draw at York City

Sheffield Wednesday came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with York City in their pre-season friendly this afternoon.

The League Two side took the lead when Marvin McCoy scored from close range following Josh Carson's cross.

After the break, new signing Marco Matias came close for Wednesday, striking narrowly wide after Kieran Lee put him through.

The Owls continued to search for an equaliser, and their efforts were rewarded when Lewis McGugan stabbed the ball home after his initial shot was saved.

Keith Lowe came within inches of winning the game for York in the dying minutes, but his header sailed just over the bar.
