Gareth Ainsworth "proud" of Wycombe Wanderers display against Aston Villa

Gareth Ainsworth says that he is "proud"of his Wycombe Wanderers team following their defeat to Aston Villa in their FA Cup third-round replay.

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has admitted that he is "proud" of his players' performances following their defeat to Aston Villa in their FA Cup third-round replay.

The League Two side held their own against the Premier League outfit at Villa Park, but late goals from Ciaran Clark and Idrissa Gana were enough to send Villa into the fourth round.

"We've got players who are destined for bigger things and when they put in a performance like that, it makes me a proud man," the club's Twitter page quotes Ainsworth as saying.

"The Wycombe fans were fantastic. They sang even louder when we went 1-0 down."

Villa will face Manchester City in the next round.
