Wrexham, Macclesfield Town share spoils

Macclesfield Town extend their unbeaten record to five matches with a 2-2 draw at Wrexham.

A second-half equaliser from Paul Turnbull has earned Macclesfield Town a 2-2 draw at Wrexham, stretching their unbeaten start to the season to five matches.

Wrexham had the better of the opening exchanges, with Wes York and Louis Moult both going close, before Macclesfield began to push the home side onto the back foot with a series of set pieces around the penalty area.

The Welsh outfit soon re-established their dominance, with Elliott Durrell firing a first-time shot at the goalkeeper, but Macclesfield took the lead against the run of play on 40 minutes when Waide Fairhurst's powerful drive found its way past Andy Coughlin.

However, Wrexham were back on level terms just before the half-time whistle when Connor Jennings rose highest at the back post to score against his former club.

That goal gave Wrexham the momentum at the start of the second half, and after he had previously headed over from a corner, Blaine Hudson found the target with his next effort after getting onto the end of a superb delivery from Durrell.

Fairhurst should have registered an immediate reply for the visitors when well placed in the area, but moments after he had blazed over the crossbar, Macclesfield found an equaliser.

The ball was swung into the area and Turnbull was in the right place at the right time to loop a header over the goalkeeper.

Adriano Moke almost found a winner for the visitors in the closing stages, but both teams were forced to settle for a point each from an entertaining encounter.
