Wolves trying to sign Joao Moutinho?

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with an ambitious deadline-day move for Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho.

The 32-year-old has been with the Ligue 1 outfit since 2013 and remains an integral part of the team but has just five months remaining on his current deal in the principality.

According to The Sportsman, the Portugal international is keen on a move to the Midlands outfit side, who are on course for a return to the Premier League after an impressive campaign to date.

Agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Moutinho, has been heavily influential in Wolves' transfer dealings since their acquisition by Chinese firm Fosun in 2016 and has overseen an influx of Portuguese talent to Molineux, including the Championship-record capture of Ruben Neves last summer.

Earlier this month Nuno Espirito Santo's side were linked with a mammoth bid for AC Milan striker Andre Silva and have also been credited with interest in Porto left-back Alex Telles.

Moutinho, who won the Ligue 1 title with Monaco last season, has made 19 Ligue 1 appearances for Leonardo Jardim's side so far this season, contributing one goal and five assists.

Wolves currently have an 11-point advantage at the top of the Championship table.
