Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign former Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy?

Wolves to sign free agent John Ruddy?

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly opened negotiations with goalkeeper John Ruddy over a potential move to Molineux.

On Thursday, Wolves announced that Carl Ikeme had been diagnosed with acute leukaemia, news which has resulted in an outpouring of support for the 31-year-old.

However, despite the West Midlands club stating publicly that any announcements over signings would be delayed, work will continue behind the scenes with Ikeme's deputy Andy Lonergan expected to leave the club before the start of the season.

According to The Sun, Wolves want to sign experienced stopper Ruddy, who was released by Norwich City at the end of the last campaign.

Ruddy has acknowledged that he would be open to a move to Aston Villa, but it appears that their near neighbours have moved ahead of the Birmingham-based side in the race for his signature.

Ruddy made a total of 243 appearances in all competitions during his seven years at Norwich.
