Lille's Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches is reportedly a top deadline-day target for Bruno Lage's Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly engaged with Lille over the possibility of a season-long loan deal for midfielder Renato Sanches.

The 24-year-old joined the French side from Bayern Munich in 2019 and was a key part of the side that won the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21.

The Portugal international has previous experience in the Premier League, having spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Swansea City, although his spell in Wales was blighted by injury.

According to the Express & Star, Bruno Lage's Wolves are now hoping to conclude a deadline-day deal for Sanches on what would be an initial loan with an option to buy next summer.

Should he make the move to Molineux, Sanches would link up with an ever-growing contingent of Portuguese players at the Midlands side, joining the likes of Ruben Neves, Pedro Neto, Francisco Trincao, Daniel Podence, Joao Moutinho and Fabio Silva.

The Benfica youth product is currently sidelined with a knee injury and would not be likely to make his debut until the end of next month, although that is not believed to be an impediment to getting the deal across the line.

Lage has made no secret of his desire to bring in multiple players before tonight's 11pm deadline and over the weekend he sealed a move for South Korean forward Hwang Hee-chan, also on an initial loan arrangement.
