Nuno Espirito Santo: 'Ruben Neves deal close to completion'

Nuno Espirito Santo is confident of seeing Ruben Neves complete a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers and says that he is looking forward to working with the Porto starlet.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo has said that he expects the Championship club to quickly wrap up a move for highly-rated Porto midfielder Ruben Neves.

The 20-year-old, previously linked with the likes of Premier League big hitters Chelsea and Liverpool, emerged as a surprise target for Wolves last week.

It was claimed in the British press on Monday that a fee had been agreed for Neves and, while falling short of confirming that speculation, Nuno is hopeful of seeing the Portugal international - who he worked with at Porto last season - sign for the club in the coming days.

"Yes I think so," he is quoted as saying by the Express & Star when asked if he was confident of completing a transfer. "Ruben is a very good player who can bring new things to our squad.

"I know him well, I worked with him last year. He's a good player. When a player aged 17 years old is captain of a big team like Porto in a Champions League game, it means a lot."

Neves, who recently represented his country at the Euro Under-21 Championships in Poland, will reportedly earn £40,000 a week at Molineux.
