Wolves, Bristol City chasing Dean Moxey

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bristol City will reportedly battle for the signature of Bolton Wanderers defender Dean Moxey next month.

The 29-year-old will be sacrificed on a free transfer by the Championship's basement side amid their financial difficulties which has seen them struggle to pay players and staff, and avoid a winding-up order from HMRC.

As one of the club's highest earners, releasing Moxey will ease some of the pressure on the Trotters' heavy wage bill, although he is just one of several key players expected to leave the Macron in the winter window.

Wolves have struggled to find a winning formula at the back since Richard Stearman was sold to Fulham in the summer window, although the arrival of Moxey could provide a stable partner for centre-back captain Danny Batth.

Bristol City, meanwhile, have the third leakiest defence in the division, having shipped 39 goals in 23 games this term.
