Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly among a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Strasbourg Ludovic Ajorque.

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly hold an interest in signing Strasbourg forward Ludovic Ajorque.

Head coach Bruno Lage has been left with reduced striking options ahead of the new season with Raul Jimenez and Fabio Silva both unavailable to him in the short term.

Just days after Silva was allowed to link up with Anderlecht on a season-long loan deal, Jimenez sustained a knee injury which will keep him sidelined until at least September.

As it stands, Hwang Hee-chan and Daniel Podence appear most likely to play down the middle during the opening weeks of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

Nevertheless, Lage will be looking to strengthen his options as soon as possible with Wolves facing a trip to Leeds United later this week.

According to Sky Sports News, Wolves are admirers of Ajorque, a 6ft 6in striker who plies his trade in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg.

The 28-year-old has emerged as one of the top strikers in France's top flight over the past two seasons, contributing 28 goals and 12 assists.

With two years still left on his contract, Strasbourg will be against parting ways with one of their key men as they attempt to remain competitive for European qualification.

However, the possibility remains that club officials may be open to cashing in on the player, who would likely cost in the region of £18m.

The report adds that a further seven Premier League clubs are also monitoring any developments with the Frenchman's future, including Everton.

Frank Lampard is in the market for extra competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Richarlison's exit to Tottenham Hotspur leading to Salomon Rondon now acting as backup.

Leicester City, West Ham United, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Newcastle United may act as rivals to Wolves and the Toffees over the coming weeks.

Ajorque has spent his entire career in his homeland, his other notable spell coming in the second tier with Clermont Foot.
