Wolverhampton Wanderers agree late deal for Franck Kessie?

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly agree a £26m deal for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly reached an agreement over the transfer of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The 22-year-old has been a long-term target for the Midlands side, who are now apparently racing to get the deal over the line before tonight's 5pm transfer deadline.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have been in the market for a high-quality addition in midfield this summer, but it appeared that they would not be making a senior signing on deadline day after a mooted deal for Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina collapsed at the eleventh hour.

According to Sport Italia, however, Wolves have managed to make a late breakthrough in revived talks for Kessie and have agreed a £26m deal - comprising £23m up front and £3m in bonuses - with Milan in the last few hours.

The Ivorian only completed a permanent move to the Serie A outfit last month following a two-year loan spell from Atlanta which concluded with an obligation to buy for £22m.

Wolves, who are in Europa League action in Armenia tonight, are now attempting to agree personal terms with Kessie before making the signing official this afternoon.

Should the deal for Kessie go through, the youngster will become Nuno's fifth senior signing of the window and will take Wolves' total summer spending to an estimated £110m.
